the american dream gone sour. yes sometimes i wonder...this mad rush to go abroad and earn money...this constant struggle to be the best.. maybe we`r spoiling our today in persuit of a better tom.

u take a job work hard and buy a maruthi 800,a couple of years... u want a better car..u work harder and buy a santro...some more hard work and a scorpio...then when ur abt 50 u`ve earned enough to buy a merc... but just then the doctor advices u to use a cycle as u`ve grown very unhealthy and obese over the years. hehehe thats the irony of life.

Dude i must tell u that its really touching .....there is no place like ur homeland where u can have real peace of mind n happiness....may b u get all the means of living elsewhere but the most imp things that keeps u living ..the love,affection,the kinda atmosphere that u have here u will never find it elsewhere!! It's an amazing story with a meaniong to it...Do you really have to go out of India to spend a life as "the rich and famous" do.And is it giving you any joy?Personally I have seen situations where in people who settle abroad just forget about everything and everyone at present and in the future they say"Oh I wish I had stayed here..."and all crap.The passage here shows that money isn't life.You need an emotional support all through your life and in a country like India,you have peple who'll be by your side anytime.But in the US of A,you have one member in,say Texas,the other in Pennsylvania and so on in different places.And at times of crisis,who knows if they'll ever have time to come by to you.Also seeing the example of the kids,we being Indians would definitely not like to lose out on our children growing up to Western cultures.And the refusal to come to India is indeed an eye opening statement for us to note down.So ppl,plz think deeply abt it and dont lose out your future for a few dollars more.It wont bring you happiness and peace in the long run.....

@monami ... what u said about the sms culture is quite true ... in fact i too strongly believe in this ... funnily as many of my friends have pointed out to me ... i'm among the few who send messages only as fully formed sentences ... :-)

@suman n balaji ... u're right guys ... even i believe that "home is where the heart is" ... tho i also believe that this musn't blind us in following our destiny ... be in bangalore , hyderabad / boston for that matter ... i do have strong views of workign for the upliftment of the american economy but thats meant for another blog ...

I do have a few comments before I get into the in-depth analysis. Do let me know frankly if this is uncalled for.
I absolutely appreciate your endeavour, however having English as my first language, I have strong reservations about the American lingos/spellings. We are in the sms era but shouldn't we (the educated lot) not allow its proliferation in the creative world?Contrary views are welcome.

You have dexterously penned down the 'mental fights' of many NRIs.I am sure many of them go through similar thought process. The outcome of the stay abroad however may differ for many.

To sum up, I hope 'you' will be one of those happy people who will have the courage to say 'NO' to an U of SA offer:))
As for me, I consider myself to be a mirror image of East India Company, sucking all the information I can so that I can utilise it in my good old Kolkata:)

tough call man,i'd say it depends on the person himself whether they prefer livin here or abroad.i know people livin abroad who have done very well and are happy to stay there.i also know ppl who have just worked for a while n come back here.i feel personally that homes where the heart is so i'd prefer to get an american salry in india [;)]

dude....from my personal experiences in life....i've seen that ppl goin out of our country may have done well on the economic front....but are emotionally drained....life's really mechanical out there.....i personally have never liked to stay away from my family...relatives n friends....life is where love is....aint it...?
